Biography of Ed Carpenter

Ed Carpenter
  • Birthday: March 3, 1981
  • Hometown: Indianapolis
  • Residence: Indianapolis
  • Height/weight: 5'9"/165

Growing up, Ed Carpenter's friends wanted him to play sports at school instead of racing. Friends would tease him at lunch by making car noises, but now they all want tickets to see him compete in the IndyCar Series.

Carpenter, the stepson of Indy Racing League founder Tony George, has been racing since he was 8 years old and balanced racing and education throughout much of his career. Carpenter graduated from Butler University with a degree in Marketing in 2003, a few weeks before he won the Freedom 100 at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Away from the track, Carpenter lives in Indianapolis. He and his wife, Heather, have two dogs (Bentley and Roscoe).
